Many people think of a vacation as an opportunity to ‘lose weight’, and look good in their bathing suit with social media approved poses showing off the right angles and looking ‘skinny’...
We on the other hand challenged ourselves to move a lot more in the months leading up to our trip so that we would feel strong and fit. We practiced swimming so that we didn’t get swept up in the currents and drown at the waterfalls, we walked/hiked more so that we would be able to reach the summit of a small mountain in the thin, humid air of the jungle, and we strengthened our muscles, especially the shoulder girdle so we can lift our luggage and gear easily on our own.
Exercise is so much more enjoyable when you stop thinking about fat and calories, and instead apply it to activities of daily living and being able to participate without injuring (or killing) yourself. 🏊♀️🤸🏻♀️🏋🏻
